Fortinet system manages network security tools

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Fortinet has introduced FortiManager System, a network management and monitoring system designed for companies with anti-virus firewalls in several different locations.

Designed as a central control point for establishing security policies, monitoring system status and logging traffic, FortiManager includes both the FortiManager Server appliance and the Java-based FortiManager Console.

It manages security functions such as anti-virus, content filtering, firewall, virtual private network and intrusion detection.

Pricing depends on system configuration and geographic region.

It stores device configurations in a bundled relational database, which, according to the vendor, reduces the time it takes to deploy the product and reduces configuration errors by managing policies in a central location.

The FortiManager Server is a rack mountable appliance with four auto sensing 10/100 Ethernet ports, an RS-232 console connection port, liquid crystal display (LCD) and 40 GB hard drive.
